Paddlers delight
Kayakers head to the southeast coast of Trinidad on Saturday 20 October to paddle in the ninth annual Maritime Ortoire River Race. Paddlers have been training in Chaguaramas over the past weeks, and there will be hot competition among paddlers to improve their standings.
When & where
The races start at 9am from the Ortoire River bridge. The long course is 15km and the short course 6km. Several exciting activities in kayaks will be on the agenda for families and children from 12pm until 3pm.
Everyone is invited to view the races from the bridge and to participate in all the fun, family-friendly events. There will be food on sale, including barbecue and soups prepared by the Ortoire Village Council.
The organisers
The event is hosted by the Trinidad Kayak Club and the Trinidad & Tobago Canoeing & Rowing Federation. The long course winner receives two return tickets to Barbados; the short course winner receives two return tickets to Tobago.
